[00:00:01.80 --> 00:00:11.68] [Music] [00:00:09.64 --> 00:00:13.84] hello everyone welcome to the third [00:00:11.68 --> 00:00:16.48] episode of VAMK Academic Adventures [00:00:13.84 --> 00:00:18.72] podcast in VAMK academic Adventures we [00:00:16.48 --> 00:00:21.40] discuss about the student life study [00:00:18.72 --> 00:00:23.32] opportunities and what kind of things we [00:00:21.40 --> 00:00:25.08] get as a student here and also from the [00:00:23.32 --> 00:00:27.92] Personnel stuff opinion and students [00:00:25.08 --> 00:00:29.96] opinion and today we have two special [00:00:27.92 --> 00:00:32.12] guests our very two students in [00:00:29.96 --> 00:00:34.80] including me of course three students [00:00:32.12 --> 00:00:36.88] and we'll be discussing about our [00:00:34.80 --> 00:00:38.96] programs and also student life and so [00:00:36.88 --> 00:00:42.00] many things so let's see who we have [00:00:38.96 --> 00:00:44.40] today here so first of all hello Wiame [00:00:42.00 --> 00:00:47.52] hello so can you introduce yourself a [00:00:44.40 --> 00:00:51.04] little bit um hello everyone my name is [00:00:47.52 --> 00:00:53.32] Wiame I'm a second year student at VAMK and [00:00:51.04 --> 00:00:57.00] I'm studying a bachelor of IT. nice to [00:00:53.32 --> 00:01:00.40] meet you nice to meet you Wiame. and we [00:00:57.00 --> 00:01:02.88] have hello hello hello now can you [00:01:00.40 --> 00:01:06.16] introduce yourself a little bit uh hello [00:01:02.88 --> 00:01:10.16] uh my name is Navi Kumar uh I am from [00:01:06.16 --> 00:01:12.12] India and I'm energy technology student [00:01:10.16 --> 00:01:15.44] here in [00:01:12.12 --> 00:01:16.76] Vaasa okay nice to meet you nice to meet [00:01:15.44 --> 00:01:19.84] you I think this is your first time [00:01:16.76 --> 00:01:21.80] meeting each other yes yes yes okay yeah [00:01:19.84 --> 00:01:24.04] since we are all from different programs [00:01:21.80 --> 00:01:27.00] like I'm from IB you're from ET and we [00:01:24.04 --> 00:01:28.68] am from it uh as well so we can talk a [00:01:27.00 --> 00:01:30.88] little bit about the differences of the [00:01:28.68 --> 00:01:33.48] program so maybe maybe Navi you can [00:01:30.88 --> 00:01:36.56] tell us a little bit up first like how [00:01:33.48 --> 00:01:40.04] is energy technology uh energy [00:01:36.56 --> 00:01:45.04] technology is totally depend on energy [00:01:40.04 --> 00:01:48.16] uh there is uh a a lot of uh courses in [00:01:45.04 --> 00:01:52.96] uh in this energy program like uh [00:01:48.16 --> 00:01:56.80] renewable energy uh and uh we uh know [00:01:52.96 --> 00:02:00.32] like world is totally depend on energy [00:01:56.80 --> 00:02:04.16] so there is uh not any major uh [00:02:00.32 --> 00:02:07.84] difference of like uh we can say uh it [00:02:04.16 --> 00:02:11.96] is uh energy related program mhm yeah [00:02:07.84 --> 00:02:14.92] yeah yes there are a lot of courses [00:02:11.96 --> 00:02:19.28] related to energy and uh there are a lot [00:02:14.92 --> 00:02:21.20] of companies in Vaasa which is uh hiring [00:02:19.28 --> 00:02:24.28] the energy [00:02:21.20 --> 00:02:27.04] students yeah yeah so that sounds a lot [00:02:24.28 --> 00:02:31.60] of about energy but what about I it as [00:02:27.04 --> 00:02:35.00] well well it um the depends if you like [00:02:31.60 --> 00:02:37.64] to work with your hands then embedded [00:02:35.00 --> 00:02:41.84] systems in it is good for you if you [00:02:37.64 --> 00:02:44.64] like handling boards electrical stuff [00:02:41.84 --> 00:02:46.84] and if you if you like programming if [00:02:44.64 --> 00:02:48.76] you like anything that relates to that [00:02:46.84 --> 00:02:53.00] then I think software engineering is [00:02:48.76 --> 00:02:56.24] good for you but the first two years um [00:02:53.00 --> 00:02:59.04] we studied basically the same things but [00:02:56.24 --> 00:03:01.24] then everyone decides their paths like [00:02:59.04 --> 00:03:03.68] if you want to stud the software or [00:03:01.24 --> 00:03:06.52] embedded systems okay this is basically [00:03:03.68 --> 00:03:09.24] so it's divided into two parts in it [00:03:06.52 --> 00:03:11.56] yeah basically after in your second year [00:03:09.24 --> 00:03:14.64] you have to choose what are you going to [00:03:11.56 --> 00:03:16.84] do because it is a really vast domain [00:03:14.64 --> 00:03:20.00] that's true that's true yeah but it [00:03:16.84 --> 00:03:22.12] sounds both uh to me ET energy [00:03:20.00 --> 00:03:24.36] technology and it Information Technology [00:03:22.12 --> 00:03:26.48] are very technical because I'm studying [00:03:24.36 --> 00:03:28.24] international business and nothing [00:03:26.48 --> 00:03:30.64] sounds familiar to me at all there's [00:03:28.24 --> 00:03:33.32] nothing that maybe if we share something [00:03:30.64 --> 00:03:35.64] common like maybe some finnished courses [00:03:33.32 --> 00:03:37.76] maybe maybe common but uh in [00:03:35.64 --> 00:03:39.00] international business most of them we [00:03:37.76 --> 00:03:40.84] just continue with the whole [00:03:39.00 --> 00:03:42.88] international business in general and we [00:03:40.84 --> 00:03:45.32] get a little bit of about everything for [00:03:42.88 --> 00:03:48.00] example entrepreneurship marketing and [00:03:45.32 --> 00:03:50.00] supply chain Logistics so in my first [00:03:48.00 --> 00:03:52.76] year it was I took a lot of courses [00:03:50.00 --> 00:03:54.68] related to marketing and uh so on but [00:03:52.76 --> 00:03:57.28] this year I'm now more focusing on the [00:03:54.68 --> 00:03:59.16] supply chain procurement which is like [00:03:57.28 --> 00:04:02.12] logistic things or something like that [00:03:59.16 --> 00:04:04.92] so yeah it's more about like I think uh [00:04:02.12 --> 00:04:07.40] inter in international business um we [00:04:04.92 --> 00:04:08.88] relate to energy in some way like but in [00:04:07.40 --> 00:04:11.04] some parts of like you know product [00:04:08.88 --> 00:04:14.84] chain and something like that so more [00:04:11.04 --> 00:04:17.52] about business related and uh also very [00:04:14.84 --> 00:04:20.92] um focus on International not just a [00:04:17.52 --> 00:04:22.96] focus on finish business but how you can [00:04:20.92 --> 00:04:25.52] start your own business here but also [00:04:22.96 --> 00:04:27.80] make it International so we go on [00:04:25.52 --> 00:04:29.72] International aspects a lot of in [00:04:27.80 --> 00:04:32.48] international business well to know my [00:04:29.72 --> 00:04:34.92] my background is from business oh so you [00:04:32.48 --> 00:04:38.48] you had business before so what what [00:04:34.92 --> 00:04:43.20] made you choose energy technology uh uh [00:04:38.48 --> 00:04:46.28] uh this is totally a new program uh so I [00:04:43.20 --> 00:04:48.48] do not want to study business more so I [00:04:46.28 --> 00:04:52.84] want to study something like different [00:04:48.48 --> 00:04:55.80] so there is uh only two programs it and [00:04:52.84 --> 00:04:58.32] uh business so that's why I choose [00:04:55.80 --> 00:05:00.24] energy here energy yeah so you wanted to [00:04:58.32 --> 00:05:02.56] learn a little bit new about little bit [00:05:00.24 --> 00:05:05.72] new yeah and of course Vaasa is very [00:05:02.56 --> 00:05:07.68] energy Vasa is a hub of energy yeah Vaasa [00:05:05.72 --> 00:05:10.60] is the Hub of energy so I think you made [00:05:07.68 --> 00:05:12.60] a good choice I guess of course now that [00:05:10.60 --> 00:05:14.84] you said you chose energy technology so [00:05:12.60 --> 00:05:16.68] I can continue like what made you choose [00:05:14.84 --> 00:05:19.68] energy technology do you want to work as [00:05:16.68 --> 00:05:21.88] an energy related engineer in the future [00:05:19.68 --> 00:05:25.40] like after this program you know any [00:05:21.88 --> 00:05:29.16] career prospects uh first of all I want [00:05:25.40 --> 00:05:32.44] to say uh I want to study something like [00:05:29.16 --> 00:05:36.52] new so that's why I choose this program [00:05:32.44 --> 00:05:39.48] and wasasa I choose Vaasa because of [00:05:36.52 --> 00:05:40.52] there is a lot of companies uh related [00:05:39.48 --> 00:05:45.16] to my [00:05:40.52 --> 00:05:48.64] program uh well uh I will uh [00:05:45.16 --> 00:05:53.72] definitely uh get if I get opportunity [00:05:48.64 --> 00:05:56.80] uh in any company so I want to get uh I [00:05:53.72 --> 00:05:58.56] want to be progress in uh my life for [00:05:56.80 --> 00:06:00.16] this so of course you're still learning [00:05:58.56 --> 00:06:02.20] and yeah still learning yeah still [00:06:00.16 --> 00:06:04.64] learning so you can decide where I [00:06:02.20 --> 00:06:08.04] completed my first year so it was very [00:06:04.64 --> 00:06:09.28] nice and uh after completing my credits [00:06:08.04 --> 00:06:12.40] I also got [00:06:09.28 --> 00:06:15.36] scholarship okay that's great very nice [00:06:12.40 --> 00:06:18.56] and uh after completing my credits I [00:06:15.36 --> 00:06:21.32] also got scholarship okay that's great [00:06:18.56 --> 00:06:23.28] yes we have to do scholar get [00:06:21.32 --> 00:06:24.88] scholarship yeah that's true I think [00:06:23.28 --> 00:06:26.92] that's a good point and you still have [00:06:24.88 --> 00:06:30.04] some time left in your study so you can [00:06:26.92 --> 00:06:33.40] decide where you want to uh go forward [00:06:30.04 --> 00:06:35.12] as well yeah and so what about VAMK like uh [00:06:33.40 --> 00:06:39.44] what made you choose [00:06:35.12 --> 00:06:42.52] it um well basically I was i w I came [00:06:39.44 --> 00:06:45.68] here fresh of out of high school and [00:06:42.52 --> 00:06:48.72] since like I'm small I've always been [00:06:45.68 --> 00:06:50.84] interested like for example when you see [00:06:48.72 --> 00:06:53.60] in the movies or something you see this [00:06:50.84 --> 00:06:55.40] programmer this intelligent person and [00:06:53.60 --> 00:06:58.68] then I was like I want to do it even [00:06:55.40 --> 00:07:01.36] though I had no prior experience to it [00:06:58.68 --> 00:07:04.52] and I was drk to it and now I kind of [00:07:01.36 --> 00:07:06.68] like it and it's kind of my domain now [00:07:04.52 --> 00:07:09.60] okay that that's great that's great so [00:07:06.68 --> 00:07:12.04] do you already have any career prospects [00:07:09.60 --> 00:07:13.44] in mind like that you want to have to do [00:07:12.04 --> 00:07:17.04] after [00:07:13.44 --> 00:07:20.32] graduation uh well the career paths are [00:07:17.04 --> 00:07:23.36] really are really vast but I do have [00:07:20.32 --> 00:07:27.08] something in mind as I'm already in it [00:07:23.36 --> 00:07:29.84] maybe working in software testing which [00:07:27.08 --> 00:07:32.20] is something I'm really interested in [00:07:29.84 --> 00:07:34.20] now and let's hope for the best let's [00:07:32.20 --> 00:07:36.56] see in the future if I'm going to be a [00:07:34.20 --> 00:07:38.52] software tester yeah this podcast will [00:07:36.56 --> 00:07:42.20] be remain with our future and we can [00:07:38.52 --> 00:07:44.48] look back in time after we graduate yeah [00:07:42.20 --> 00:07:46.48] yeah but uh I I think that you made a [00:07:44.48 --> 00:07:48.68] really good choice also and of course a [00:07:46.48 --> 00:07:50.52] lot of uh there are students like uh [00:07:48.68 --> 00:07:52.72] na'vi and me we had prior a little bit [00:07:50.52 --> 00:07:54.52] of experience studing before and you for [00:07:52.72 --> 00:07:56.12] you we came out of high school like [00:07:54.52 --> 00:07:58.44] fresh out of high school so I think it's [00:07:56.12 --> 00:07:59.96] good like a lot of University students [00:07:58.44 --> 00:08:02.24] they come out of straight out of high [00:07:59.96 --> 00:08:04.44] school also but also like us we changed [00:08:02.24 --> 00:08:07.32] to another area so I think now we're [00:08:04.44 --> 00:08:09.80] still exploring a lot of like different [00:08:07.32 --> 00:08:11.80] um career opportunities study [00:08:09.80 --> 00:08:15.40] opportunities here so I think that's a [00:08:11.80 --> 00:08:18.32] good thing yeah but uh yeah for me also [00:08:15.40 --> 00:08:20.36] I for you I'm the opposite of Navi like [00:08:18.32 --> 00:08:22.68] I was studying engineering before and [00:08:20.36 --> 00:08:24.92] now I choose business so it's uh quite [00:08:22.68 --> 00:08:26.60] kind kind of the opposite but so far I [00:08:24.92 --> 00:08:28.32] think I'm enjoying and especially [00:08:26.60 --> 00:08:30.36] marketing cuz now I am doing a lot of [00:08:28.32 --> 00:08:32.56] marketing stuffs also [00:08:30.36 --> 00:08:34.68] so yeah of course I would love to [00:08:32.56 --> 00:08:37.48] continue to work in the marketing area [00:08:34.68 --> 00:08:40.00] in the future as well after I graduate [00:08:37.48 --> 00:08:43.20] fingers crossed let's hope we all get [00:08:40.00 --> 00:08:45.80] our future best ideas yeah are any of [00:08:43.20 --> 00:08:47.48] you working like as a part-time for me I [00:08:45.80 --> 00:08:49.64] of course like in my first year I work [00:08:47.48 --> 00:08:51.92] part-time and uh that is not really [00:08:49.64 --> 00:08:53.72] related to studies uh just to you know [00:08:51.92 --> 00:08:56.52] support myself a little bit and then [00:08:53.72 --> 00:08:58.80] also uh now I'm doing marketing training [00:08:56.52 --> 00:09:01.28] alongside my study so I have to balance [00:08:58.80 --> 00:09:04.64] a little bit but so far I because the [00:09:01.28 --> 00:09:06.56] study plan we can customize how we want [00:09:04.64 --> 00:09:08.80] uh balance alongside with the studies [00:09:06.56 --> 00:09:11.52] like for example now I work 30 hours per [00:09:08.80 --> 00:09:13.92] week and then uh I also study at the [00:09:11.52 --> 00:09:16.76] same time so it still can be managed and [00:09:13.92 --> 00:09:18.80] even in my first year I work afterwards [00:09:16.76 --> 00:09:21.28] uh in a restaurant like after studying [00:09:18.80 --> 00:09:23.08] hours so that is also can be managed so [00:09:21.28 --> 00:09:26.28] are you at the same time like you know [00:09:23.08 --> 00:09:29.08] working anywhere or doing any work um [00:09:26.28 --> 00:09:32.44] well um I've never worked like in my [00:09:29.08 --> 00:09:34.44] life before coming to Finland so I was [00:09:32.44 --> 00:09:37.52] really hesitant and I was also [00:09:34.44 --> 00:09:40.48] anticipating how work life will be but [00:09:37.52 --> 00:09:45.16] right now I am working as a part-time [00:09:40.48 --> 00:09:49.12] traine I'm working 25 hours a week and [00:09:45.16 --> 00:09:52.20] I'm working as a software testing trainy [00:09:49.12 --> 00:09:55.92] an automation testing trainy as an [00:09:52.20 --> 00:09:59.04] automation testing training and so far [00:09:55.92 --> 00:10:01.52] so good uh at first since you you've [00:09:59.04 --> 00:10:03.84] never worked in your life you find it [00:10:01.52 --> 00:10:07.08] really difficult to add something new to [00:10:03.84 --> 00:10:10.12] your life balance because at first for [00:10:07.08 --> 00:10:13.44] me it was school school and then go back [00:10:10.12 --> 00:10:16.68] and uh have a nap but now I have to make [00:10:13.44 --> 00:10:19.72] time for work but then you find kind of [00:10:16.68 --> 00:10:23.12] find your balance and you make it good [00:10:19.72 --> 00:10:25.20] so right now I think I'm on the good [00:10:23.12 --> 00:10:26.52] track you're on a good track yeah but [00:10:25.20 --> 00:10:28.16] that's that's really good that you're [00:10:26.52 --> 00:10:30.56] also doing something related to your [00:10:28.16 --> 00:10:32.48] studies now and your first time working [00:10:30.56 --> 00:10:35.40] like you know and that is really good [00:10:32.48 --> 00:10:38.48] congratulations thank you I'm very lucky [00:10:35.40 --> 00:10:41.36] but of course uh things don't just come [00:10:38.48 --> 00:10:45.80] like this it was a really like tenacious [00:10:41.36 --> 00:10:49.28] like to find to find it and also like it [00:10:45.80 --> 00:10:51.92] took me a whole year to when I was like [00:10:49.28 --> 00:10:55.28] looking for any kind of work to support [00:10:51.92 --> 00:10:58.76] myself but then I got this chance to to [00:10:55.28 --> 00:11:01.20] work in my field and I'm grateful for [00:10:58.76 --> 00:11:03.00] that yeah but you can also balance it [00:11:01.20 --> 00:11:06.32] together with your studies right now [00:11:03.00 --> 00:11:09.76] yeah yes I think uh right now even [00:11:06.32 --> 00:11:12.44] though I cannot like customize my I have [00:11:09.76 --> 00:11:14.88] a pretty flexible schedule which means I [00:11:12.44 --> 00:11:17.76] can work whenever I want and from home [00:11:14.88 --> 00:11:20.64] also I don't need to go to the [00:11:17.76 --> 00:11:24.08] workplace so I think I'm very flexible [00:11:20.64 --> 00:11:25.80] and I can always find five hours yeah I [00:11:24.08 --> 00:11:27.44] think that is really convenient for you [00:11:25.80 --> 00:11:29.52] and of course at the same time you're [00:11:27.44 --> 00:11:32.52] getting hands-on experience what is you [00:11:29.52 --> 00:11:34.84] teach in the classroom outside also so [00:11:32.52 --> 00:11:36.92] yeah yeah so what about Navi do you [00:11:34.84 --> 00:11:39.84] have any experience that you want to [00:11:36.92 --> 00:11:43.68] share right now yeah uh I have uh many [00:11:39.84 --> 00:11:46.12] experience in my country and uh I did uh [00:11:43.68 --> 00:11:49.00] one or two kind of jobs like accountant [00:11:46.12 --> 00:11:53.04] job in my country and after that I [00:11:49.00 --> 00:11:57.52] helped in my uh father's business and uh [00:11:53.04 --> 00:11:59.88] now I didn't get any uh good job here in [00:11:57.52 --> 00:12:04.40] Finland because uh [00:11:59.88 --> 00:12:06.84] I came late in Finland last year so the [00:12:04.40 --> 00:12:11.80] period to apply the summer power [00:12:06.84 --> 00:12:15.92] training jobs is over yeah so now uh I [00:12:11.80 --> 00:12:18.40] applied uh so many companies uh for U [00:12:15.92 --> 00:12:22.00] summer power training jobs let's see [00:12:18.40 --> 00:12:24.72] finger cross finger finger cross yeah I [00:12:22.00 --> 00:12:27.12] think it is not always hope uh hope so I [00:12:24.72 --> 00:12:29.44] will get yeah hope so you will get it we [00:12:27.12 --> 00:12:31.60] hope the best for you yeah yeah of [00:12:29.44 --> 00:12:34.60] course as an international student I [00:12:31.60 --> 00:12:37.36] think it's not immediately very easy to [00:12:34.60 --> 00:12:39.08] uh get a job that is related to studies [00:12:37.36 --> 00:12:41.68] during especially because we're still [00:12:39.08 --> 00:12:43.24] students also and not graduated yet at [00:12:41.68 --> 00:12:44.88] least even though we have graduated [00:12:43.24 --> 00:12:47.64] before in our countries but not in [00:12:44.88 --> 00:12:49.36] Finland yet so from my experience also [00:12:47.64 --> 00:12:52.40] there is this and from my experience for [00:12:49.36 --> 00:12:55.52] a certain kind of job companies look for [00:12:52.40 --> 00:12:58.16] students who are still studying because [00:12:55.52 --> 00:13:01.52] they want to form them because there are [00:12:58.16 --> 00:13:04.40] some um kinds of jobs that even though [00:13:01.52 --> 00:13:08.12] you study you cannot grasp you cannot [00:13:04.40 --> 00:13:10.04] learn so they they kind of look for [00:13:08.12 --> 00:13:13.12] student who are still studying maybe in [00:13:10.04 --> 00:13:15.12] their first or second year to form them [00:13:13.12 --> 00:13:18.56] during those two years when they [00:13:15.12 --> 00:13:20.44] graduate um they will continue that's [00:13:18.56 --> 00:13:23.00] actually also true and in Finland they [00:13:20.44 --> 00:13:25.32] have this uh traine programs like you [00:13:23.00 --> 00:13:27.56] know uh actually it's not very common in [00:13:25.32 --> 00:13:29.76] my country I don't know about in Morocco [00:13:27.56 --> 00:13:31.24] or in India like if you're students it's [00:13:29.76 --> 00:13:34.04] not very common that they will give you [00:13:31.24 --> 00:13:36.44] a training position for or summer job so [00:13:34.04 --> 00:13:38.44] not not very common yeah it is not very [00:13:36.44 --> 00:13:40.92] common yeah yeah I think it's not very [00:13:38.44 --> 00:13:43.60] common so it's the same for uh same for [00:13:40.92 --> 00:13:45.28] me as well so but here uh they already [00:13:43.60 --> 00:13:47.64] start to give these opportunities of [00:13:45.28 --> 00:13:49.24] course uh we have to try and get them so [00:13:47.64 --> 00:13:52.60] just like I think via mentioned a really [00:13:49.24 --> 00:13:54.36] good point like so it's uh already a [00:13:52.60 --> 00:13:56.48] good start for us students to start [00:13:54.36 --> 00:13:58.88] looking for jobs during our studies and [00:13:56.48 --> 00:14:01.12] not wait till until graduation so this [00:13:58.88 --> 00:14:03.00] is something reminder for also like [00:14:01.12 --> 00:14:05.16] upcoming students and also the existing [00:14:03.00 --> 00:14:07.52] students as well apart from the work and [00:14:05.16 --> 00:14:09.80] study do you also enjoy the student life [00:14:07.52 --> 00:14:12.96] here in Finland like how do you think it [00:14:09.80 --> 00:14:15.80] is yeah there are like uh I can say [00:14:12.96 --> 00:14:20.68] there are so many students unions uh we [00:14:15.80 --> 00:14:23.36] can join uh them and uh we can uh [00:14:20.68 --> 00:14:26.64] explore the new things with them because [00:14:23.36 --> 00:14:29.56] uh uh most of the uh Student Union [00:14:26.64 --> 00:14:33.00] tutors are finished uh we can [00:14:29.56 --> 00:14:35.56] uh join them and uh we uh will get to [00:14:33.00 --> 00:14:38.28] know about the Finnish culture and their [00:14:35.56 --> 00:14:40.52] society and as well as uh we learn [00:14:38.28 --> 00:14:44.60] Finnish also uh I think this is the [00:14:40.52 --> 00:14:47.48] better opportunity uh for us to join the [00:14:44.60 --> 00:14:51.32] student unions yeah there are a lot of [00:14:47.48 --> 00:14:54.12] uh things in universities like gym and [00:14:51.32 --> 00:14:57.88] sports facility also like volleyball [00:14:54.12 --> 00:15:00.32] facility in wak and uh I also played [00:14:57.88 --> 00:15:01.76] volleyball with uh a lot of Finnish [00:15:00.32 --> 00:15:03.40] friends and there [00:15:01.76 --> 00:15:06.60] are I [00:15:03.40 --> 00:15:09.80] think pelas of communities they will [00:15:06.60 --> 00:15:13.20] join the uh volleyball and we get to [00:15:09.80 --> 00:15:16.52] know with each other it is best for us [00:15:13.20 --> 00:15:18.28] yeah uh that's true like uh when you [00:15:16.52 --> 00:15:19.84] join the Student Union of your [00:15:18.28 --> 00:15:21.48] University they have the membership [00:15:19.84 --> 00:15:24.20] benefits like for example getting the [00:15:21.48 --> 00:15:26.52] gym access Sports access and of course [00:15:24.20 --> 00:15:28.68] also other any other general student [00:15:26.52 --> 00:15:30.60] events like uh student for example board [00:15:28.68 --> 00:15:32.88] Gam nights or even student culture [00:15:30.60 --> 00:15:34.96] events things like sit sit or upro or [00:15:32.88 --> 00:15:37.12] anything uh events like that includes [00:15:34.96 --> 00:15:39.40] the student culture so I would say uh [00:15:37.12 --> 00:15:41.12] maybe at first uh student culture is [00:15:39.40 --> 00:15:43.68] very different from our countries like [00:15:41.12 --> 00:15:45.84] it's not similar at all but uh since [00:15:43.68 --> 00:15:48.28] we're in Finland I think it's the best [00:15:45.84 --> 00:15:50.76] to try to get into touch with the [00:15:48.28 --> 00:15:52.76] activities and try to make it familiar [00:15:50.76 --> 00:15:55.16] so you enjoy the student life here more [00:15:52.76 --> 00:15:57.32] and not just about work work work study [00:15:55.16 --> 00:15:59.64] study study we might not be like some [00:15:57.32 --> 00:16:01.88] social party animals so we why not go to [00:15:59.64 --> 00:16:04.28] every event but uh we can go to like [00:16:01.88 --> 00:16:06.52] sports like is that volleyball or gym [00:16:04.28 --> 00:16:09.24] and sport game night or where we can [00:16:06.52 --> 00:16:12.00] just uh learn new board games what about [00:16:09.24 --> 00:16:15.28] you vam how is the student life here in [00:16:12.00 --> 00:16:18.04] particular I think the student life is [00:16:15.28 --> 00:16:20.36] very chill very good because I think [00:16:18.04 --> 00:16:23.44] there are for students a lot of things [00:16:20.36 --> 00:16:25.88] that facilitate um life for example [00:16:23.44 --> 00:16:28.44] student discounts if you have a student [00:16:25.88 --> 00:16:32.84] card and like you said access to the gym [00:16:28.44 --> 00:16:35.60] and a lot of stuff and also uh events [00:16:32.84 --> 00:16:38.40] for students to know to get to know each [00:16:35.60 --> 00:16:40.16] other and parties also a big thing is [00:16:38.40 --> 00:16:42.60] that in the winter people can get a [00:16:40.16 --> 00:16:45.48] little bit sad and depressed so the [00:16:42.60 --> 00:16:49.96] student committee is always like um [00:16:45.48 --> 00:16:52.40] hearing and also organizing um stuff so [00:16:49.96 --> 00:16:55.92] you can hear each other talk to a [00:16:52.40 --> 00:16:59.60] psychologist and stuff like that so I [00:16:55.92 --> 00:17:02.44] think uh I can use the word caring so I [00:16:59.60 --> 00:17:05.32] think caring is a right word uh I would [00:17:02.44 --> 00:17:07.36] say like supportive and caring so the [00:17:05.32 --> 00:17:09.40] students don't feel alone but of course [00:17:07.36 --> 00:17:11.20] as a student also we have to make sure [00:17:09.40 --> 00:17:13.44] where these resources are and get to [00:17:11.20 --> 00:17:15.52] know them because if we don't know them [00:17:13.44 --> 00:17:17.24] uh it will be hard to get and like you [00:17:15.52 --> 00:17:18.80] oh you would think that oh there's [00:17:17.24 --> 00:17:21.48] nothing going on but actually there's a [00:17:18.80 --> 00:17:24.08] lot going on but we need to make sure to [00:17:21.48 --> 00:17:26.72] grab these opportunities where are your [00:17:24.08 --> 00:17:29.56] classmates from and like you know uh how [00:17:26.72 --> 00:17:33.92] is the environment with your class mates [00:17:29.56 --> 00:17:35.64] and yes is it International I yeah as as [00:17:33.92 --> 00:17:38.88] for my class it's very International [00:17:35.64 --> 00:17:41.60] like there's U me from Asia like and [00:17:38.88 --> 00:17:43.48] other some other from Europe like of [00:17:41.60 --> 00:17:46.24] course sometimes exchange students come [00:17:43.48 --> 00:17:47.72] stud exchange students come also like so [00:17:46.24 --> 00:17:49.68] I would say the classmates are already [00:17:47.72 --> 00:17:51.92] very International so I'm studying [00:17:49.68 --> 00:17:53.80] international business but I already [00:17:51.92 --> 00:17:55.32] learn a lot from the class already [00:17:53.80 --> 00:17:56.72] because uh we have to talk about [00:17:55.32 --> 00:17:58.96] different cultures and different [00:17:56.72 --> 00:18:00.60] exporting laws and there are so many [00:17:58.96 --> 00:18:03.16] different things I hear from them so [00:18:00.60 --> 00:18:05.80] what about you um well this is an [00:18:03.16 --> 00:18:08.52] international program so pretty much our [00:18:05.80 --> 00:18:11.24] class is international and we're from [00:18:08.52 --> 00:18:15.12] everywhere we're from Europe Asia [00:18:11.24 --> 00:18:19.32] America also so I think one thing about [00:18:15.12 --> 00:18:22.16] our class is that um I will say the [00:18:19.32 --> 00:18:25.12] atmosphere is good and also we get to [00:18:22.16 --> 00:18:27.72] share our knowledge and also our culture [00:18:25.12 --> 00:18:30.36] invite each other home to taste [00:18:27.72 --> 00:18:33.24] different cuisines and also there are [00:18:30.36 --> 00:18:35.72] some people who know more than others in [00:18:33.24 --> 00:18:39.40] what we're studying there's always of [00:18:35.72 --> 00:18:43.08] course so we help they help they help us [00:18:39.40 --> 00:18:45.12] so this is our our classes yeah diverse [00:18:43.08 --> 00:18:47.52] classroom environment so we already [00:18:45.12 --> 00:18:49.52] learned some something from yeah do you [00:18:47.52 --> 00:18:51.40] have anything you want to add also yeah [00:18:49.52 --> 00:18:54.32] as uh she [00:18:51.40 --> 00:18:58.20] mentioned uh in my class also all the [00:18:54.32 --> 00:19:00.56] peoples are uh from other countries and [00:18:58.20 --> 00:19:03.76] I am the only Indian okay you're the [00:19:00.56 --> 00:19:07.36] only Indian yeah I'm the only Indian in [00:19:03.76 --> 00:19:12.36] my class so there are uh a lot of [00:19:07.36 --> 00:19:16.32] community from uh Asia in my uh in my [00:19:12.36 --> 00:19:20.40] class and uh if I am talking about the [00:19:16.32 --> 00:19:22.76] class and atmosphere uh it is quite good [00:19:20.40 --> 00:19:26.72] uh and uh the infrastructure of the [00:19:22.76 --> 00:19:29.76] university is uh I think very well and [00:19:26.72 --> 00:19:33.36] uh very well maintained [00:19:29.76 --> 00:19:36.76] so I think um university is like very [00:19:33.36 --> 00:19:40.64] good and the professors also uh very [00:19:36.76 --> 00:19:44.20] appreciable I think I for me also I like [00:19:40.64 --> 00:19:46.72] how here in uh in compared to my [00:19:44.20 --> 00:19:48.80] country's education system usually like [00:19:46.72 --> 00:19:50.56] we are aiming for better scores higher [00:19:48.80 --> 00:19:52.52] scores like you know we have to because [00:19:50.56 --> 00:19:55.76] there's a ranking system in class like [00:19:52.52 --> 00:19:57.36] class number one to 10 something so it's [00:19:55.76 --> 00:19:58.88] a little bit more competitive and [00:19:57.36 --> 00:20:00.72] stressful there but here it's more [00:19:58.88 --> 00:20:02.72] relaxed cuz it's there's no like you [00:20:00.72 --> 00:20:04.32] know oh who gets number one who gets no [00:20:02.72 --> 00:20:06.88] there's nothing like that of course if [00:20:04.32 --> 00:20:09.04] we don't study we will get lower grade [00:20:06.88 --> 00:20:11.04] that's on ourself but not to compete [00:20:09.04 --> 00:20:13.44] with each other but there is no [00:20:11.04 --> 00:20:16.04] discrimination it is a good thing that's [00:20:13.44 --> 00:20:19.32] true that's true I think it's equal I [00:20:16.04 --> 00:20:21.68] think I think scores doesn't matter and [00:20:19.32 --> 00:20:25.20] contrary to high school if we all fail a [00:20:21.68 --> 00:20:27.00] class we just love it off yeah true it's [00:20:25.20 --> 00:20:29.28] not like in high school when you fail [00:20:27.00 --> 00:20:31.52] something it's like the end of the world [00:20:29.28 --> 00:20:34.48] but if you're not good at something you [00:20:31.52 --> 00:20:36.40] can just retake it yes about the retakes [00:20:34.48 --> 00:20:39.04] also I think that's a good point like [00:20:36.40 --> 00:20:42.12] cuz even if we fail a test here there's [00:20:39.04 --> 00:20:44.88] officially we can do two retakes so now [00:20:42.12 --> 00:20:47.96] I'm not even that scared of failing okay [00:20:44.88 --> 00:20:51.36] I but in India if you fail in even in [00:20:47.96 --> 00:20:54.52] one exam uh you will fail in [00:20:51.36 --> 00:20:55.88] whole exactly you feel the whole whole [00:20:54.52 --> 00:20:58.24] thing like and you have to repeat [00:20:55.88 --> 00:21:01.00] everything again so it is scary but now [00:20:58.24 --> 00:21:03.36] here you're more uh taking lessons as [00:21:01.00 --> 00:21:05.92] more like oh I'm learning things if I [00:21:03.36 --> 00:21:08.16] don't understand I can uh retake it and [00:21:05.92 --> 00:21:10.28] I can make it and even of course we can [00:21:08.16 --> 00:21:12.20] do the retake even if we don't fill like [00:21:10.28 --> 00:21:14.12] if we just want to raise the grade or [00:21:12.20 --> 00:21:16.28] something like that we can do retakes [00:21:14.12 --> 00:21:20.20] also so I think that's what I like about [00:21:16.28 --> 00:21:21.84] finish education in general as well yeah [00:21:20.20 --> 00:21:24.12] um well I think one thing about [00:21:21.84 --> 00:21:28.60] education in fand and the difference is [00:21:24.12 --> 00:21:32.08] that um you you study to learn and [00:21:28.60 --> 00:21:34.64] before it was also I I study to pass [00:21:32.08 --> 00:21:37.52] sometimes the only objective is I want [00:21:34.64 --> 00:21:38.88] to pass this and get over with exactly [00:21:37.52 --> 00:21:41.16] so yes [00:21:38.88 --> 00:21:43.08] exactly yeah that that that's a really [00:21:41.16 --> 00:21:44.92] difference now now I'm more focused okay [00:21:43.08 --> 00:21:47.40] I'm really learning something now not [00:21:44.92 --> 00:21:50.52] just to get pass or like you know to [00:21:47.40 --> 00:21:52.84] score uh as I mentioned earlier uh [00:21:50.52 --> 00:21:57.36] students uh don't have any stress [00:21:52.84 --> 00:22:01.84] because in India uh students uh need to [00:21:57.36 --> 00:22:06.40] uh learn the whole years because uh uh [00:22:01.84 --> 00:22:08.92] but here uh students also uh get gaps [00:22:06.40 --> 00:22:11.60] between studies like uh 3 years uh 3 [00:22:08.92 --> 00:22:15.48] month uh summer vacations it is uh good [00:22:11.60 --> 00:22:18.28] for students to relax uh at their home [00:22:15.48 --> 00:22:22.28] and uh chill uh their [00:22:18.28 --> 00:22:24.72] lives uh it is a best thing that's true [00:22:22.28 --> 00:22:27.76] that's true that's true if I have to ask [00:22:24.72 --> 00:22:30.44] you like of one thing that you have [00:22:27.76 --> 00:22:32.08] learned during your time here in up till [00:22:30.44 --> 00:22:34.64] now maybe it can change more in the [00:22:32.08 --> 00:22:36.32] future but up till now as a VAMK student [00:22:34.64 --> 00:22:39.80] what would it be like the best thing [00:22:36.32 --> 00:22:44.08] that you have um the best thing I've [00:22:39.80 --> 00:22:46.56] learned so far maybe trust myself more [00:22:44.08 --> 00:22:49.40] when you grow up maybe in a [00:22:46.56 --> 00:22:52.68] competitiveness maybe you doubt your [00:22:49.40 --> 00:22:55.24] abilities and I think that one thing [00:22:52.68 --> 00:22:58.16] that changed me is to start trus in [00:22:55.24 --> 00:23:01.12] myself and believe in myself and stop [00:22:58.16 --> 00:23:03.40] beli in myself yes I think this is one [00:23:01.12 --> 00:23:05.32] thing I've learned well here in Finland [00:23:03.40 --> 00:23:08.04] I think in Finland you have a lot of [00:23:05.32 --> 00:23:09.52] time to reflect on yourself also yeah [00:23:08.04 --> 00:23:12.28] because the culture itself is more [00:23:09.52 --> 00:23:14.32] focused on an individualism so more you [00:23:12.28 --> 00:23:16.20] have time to reflect what you want and [00:23:14.32 --> 00:23:19.04] what you believe in yourself and you can [00:23:16.20 --> 00:23:24.36] do more in yourself as well what about [00:23:19.04 --> 00:23:28.88] Navi uh I agree with the VAMK and uh I [00:23:24.36 --> 00:23:33.28] also like I can say that uh I am more [00:23:28.88 --> 00:23:37.32] independent uh in India like uh uh I [00:23:33.28 --> 00:23:40.72] most uh uh students and the children [00:23:37.32 --> 00:23:45.36] depends on their parents for everything [00:23:40.72 --> 00:23:50.28] when I came here uh I learn many things [00:23:45.36 --> 00:23:54.52] like cooking and washing and maintain my [00:23:50.28 --> 00:23:56.88] room quite good true uh so Finland makes [00:23:54.52 --> 00:23:58.96] me more independent independent yeah [00:23:56.88 --> 00:24:00.76] here you learn like even the finished [00:23:58.96 --> 00:24:02.20] students themselves they are also [00:24:00.76 --> 00:24:03.80] already like you know at Young they [00:24:02.20 --> 00:24:05.48] already leave and they already are more [00:24:03.80 --> 00:24:09.24] individual which is very different from [00:24:05.48 --> 00:24:10.96] our my our culture so yeah I I I agree [00:24:09.24 --> 00:24:13.12] with that like for me I think the best [00:24:10.96 --> 00:24:16.24] part about is being independent also [00:24:13.12 --> 00:24:18.20] like you become more independent you and [00:24:16.24 --> 00:24:20.44] also another thing is like I think I [00:24:18.20 --> 00:24:22.80] start to enjoy little appreciate the [00:24:20.44 --> 00:24:25.24] little things in life a little bit more [00:24:22.80 --> 00:24:28.40] yeah sometimes I'm to in my own country [00:24:25.24 --> 00:24:29.80] I was to um with my family and [00:24:28.40 --> 00:24:31.88] everything thinking about more like you [00:24:29.80 --> 00:24:33.96] know as a community more about like like [00:24:31.88 --> 00:24:36.44] you said like passing the exam getting [00:24:33.96 --> 00:24:39.32] more and more but here now uh you also [00:24:36.44 --> 00:24:41.44] try to um appreciate like the nature [00:24:39.32 --> 00:24:45.52] like even the sunlight for example I [00:24:41.44 --> 00:24:47.84] took sunlight for granted before yeah [00:24:45.52 --> 00:24:49.48] but now I think in Finland like I think [00:24:47.84 --> 00:24:51.76] even when the sun shines I'm like oh the [00:24:49.48 --> 00:24:53.92] sun is shining today and I'm happy about [00:24:51.76 --> 00:24:56.08] that already you know so I think it [00:24:53.92 --> 00:24:59.12] makes me learn like you enjoy the little [00:24:56.08 --> 00:25:01.24] things in life also but uh do you are [00:24:59.12 --> 00:25:05.36] you guys already also studying any [00:25:01.24 --> 00:25:07.72] finish at the moment or how is your uh [00:25:05.36 --> 00:25:10.56] yeah I completed to finish for for nurse [00:25:07.72 --> 00:25:13.96] one in my last years uh now I'm studying [00:25:10.56 --> 00:25:18.88] finish for for NSE 2 uh which is quite [00:25:13.96 --> 00:25:24.08] good for me to learn finish and I think [00:25:18.88 --> 00:25:27.92] uh uh Finnish is a good idea to get a [00:25:24.08 --> 00:25:29.68] jobs in Finland mhm yeah yeah yeah so [00:25:27.92 --> 00:25:33.48] you know some words in Finish you can [00:25:29.68 --> 00:25:33.48] see yeah uh I can [00:25:33.53 --> 00:25:39.00] [Music] [00:25:35.52 --> 00:25:42.92] say that means I am noi yes that means [00:25:39.00 --> 00:25:42.92] you're noi yes nice to meet [00:25:46.88 --> 00:25:53.72] you exactly what about Wiame [00:25:51.40 --> 00:25:56.48] hey oh you are speaking the spoken [00:25:53.72 --> 00:25:58.40] version yeah I hope I said it right I [00:25:56.48 --> 00:26:00.72] think that's correct yeah spoken version [00:25:58.40 --> 00:26:03.52] because I think from all what we're [00:26:00.72 --> 00:26:07.16] studying then you realize nobody speaks [00:26:03.52 --> 00:26:10.32] nobody says Mina sinä true that's true [00:26:07.16 --> 00:26:12.04] everyone is like Ma sa Ma sa yeah and you [00:26:10.32 --> 00:26:14.52] look like you look like you're some [00:26:12.04 --> 00:26:16.40] bourgea person talking I'm not familiar [00:26:14.52 --> 00:26:18.88] with the spoken version that much at yet [00:26:16.40 --> 00:26:20.72] like I mean I'm I'm still very limited [00:26:18.88 --> 00:26:24.00] The Limited finish skills but of course [00:26:20.72 --> 00:26:26.08] I have plans to work on it in the future [00:26:24.00 --> 00:26:30.56] I am learning the spoken version [00:26:26.08 --> 00:26:34.68] nowadays because forers one is uh all [00:26:30.56 --> 00:26:36.92] about uh the like written finish but [00:26:34.68 --> 00:26:40.08] finish for forigners 2 is all about [00:26:36.92 --> 00:26:42.76] spoken finish okay okay yeah I I think I [00:26:40.08 --> 00:26:45.16] also did this too but I'm not very [00:26:42.76 --> 00:26:48.80] familiar with the spoken version yet cuz [00:26:45.16 --> 00:26:51.12] I don't yeah maybe we have to do more [00:26:48.80 --> 00:26:53.52] Finnish in the future but I think [00:26:51.12 --> 00:26:55.40] learning Finnish is also one way that to [00:26:53.52 --> 00:26:57.40] more adapt into the Finnish society and [00:26:55.40 --> 00:26:59.56] of course if we plan to stay longer term [00:26:57.40 --> 00:27:01.96] in Finland Maybe it can be one great way [00:26:59.56 --> 00:27:04.24] but the good thing is that we can stay [00:27:01.96 --> 00:27:06.20] here in Finland without Finnish like [00:27:04.24 --> 00:27:08.76] being fluent in Finnish at all like our [00:27:06.20 --> 00:27:10.68] classes are in English uh a lot of PE [00:27:08.76 --> 00:27:13.20] Finnish people can speak English and I [00:27:10.68 --> 00:27:15.88] think we even when we work we can work [00:27:13.20 --> 00:27:19.36] in in just English knowing English I [00:27:15.88 --> 00:27:22.60] think on on the long term maybe learning [00:27:19.36 --> 00:27:24.56] Finnish and adapting I think maybe when [00:27:22.60 --> 00:27:27.28] a Finnish you will speak Finnish to a [00:27:24.56 --> 00:27:29.52] Finnish person they they will like it [00:27:27.28 --> 00:27:31.76] that you to learn the language that's [00:27:29.52 --> 00:27:33.88] true that's true yeah even if you say a [00:27:31.76 --> 00:27:36.00] few words in Finnish they are like oh [00:27:33.88 --> 00:27:37.64] you know some words and they really [00:27:36.00 --> 00:27:40.32] appreciate like you know the small [00:27:37.64 --> 00:27:42.32] efforts also so one thing that always [00:27:40.32 --> 00:27:45.08] happens to me when I I'm the bus stop [00:27:42.32 --> 00:27:47.52] there is always um some Finnish Elders [00:27:45.08 --> 00:27:49.12] coming to me to ask about the bus and [00:27:47.52 --> 00:27:51.44] sometimes I just wish I could speak [00:27:49.12 --> 00:27:53.76] Finnish to tell them because they don't [00:27:51.44 --> 00:27:56.00] speak English and I feel bad that's true [00:27:53.76 --> 00:27:57.44] that's true that's true yeah and then [00:27:56.00 --> 00:27:59.20] sometimes I understand what they are [00:27:57.44 --> 00:28:01.16] saying like you know they're like oh the [00:27:59.20 --> 00:28:02.52] bus number eight like you know uh the [00:28:01.16 --> 00:28:06.56] cut exent something like I'm like oh [00:28:02.52 --> 00:28:10.96] okay that is coming but I'm like yo yo [00:28:06.56 --> 00:28:14.16] n uh the thing is also uh when I uh go [00:28:10.96 --> 00:28:16.48] to any shop or any restaurant they start [00:28:14.16 --> 00:28:19.52] from Finnish but when we start from [00:28:16.48 --> 00:28:21.56] English they also start from English but [00:28:19.52 --> 00:28:23.84] first they start from Finnish finish [00:28:21.56 --> 00:28:25.84] yeah of course yeah I think if we plan [00:28:23.84 --> 00:28:27.68] to stay longterm in Finland it's it is [00:28:25.84 --> 00:28:30.04] really a good idea and but I think it's [00:28:27.68 --> 00:28:32.92] okay to be slow and take you know take [00:28:30.04 --> 00:28:35.28] it slowly step by step I think here uh [00:28:32.92 --> 00:28:39.20] most of the old people don't know about [00:28:35.28 --> 00:28:42.64] the English language so sometimes uh uh [00:28:39.20 --> 00:28:47.24] when I was new here and I forgot the [00:28:42.64 --> 00:28:51.72] path of my home so I asked two or uh [00:28:47.24 --> 00:28:56.00] three old person but uh they uh like [00:28:51.72 --> 00:28:59.16] told me in finish I didn't understand [00:28:56.00 --> 00:29:01.44] anything yeah some some some struggles [00:28:59.16 --> 00:29:03.92] that we always have as an international [00:29:01.44 --> 00:29:06.36] student but but I mean now we're all [00:29:03.92 --> 00:29:08.76] doing pretty you know adapting and [00:29:06.36 --> 00:29:11.16] slowly learning finish also so I guess [00:29:08.76 --> 00:29:12.92] just like uh getting employed in the [00:29:11.16 --> 00:29:15.52] future and I think we'll know finish [00:29:12.92 --> 00:29:17.80] slowly also but in the meantime we're [00:29:15.52 --> 00:29:19.84] all doing good and it's a great progress [00:29:17.80 --> 00:29:21.52] you can also get Swedish if you stay in [00:29:19.84 --> 00:29:23.96] Vasa Swedish is also an official [00:29:21.52 --> 00:29:26.92] language and especially in the Vaasa area [00:29:23.96 --> 00:29:29.40] so you can choose whichever Swedish language is [00:29:26.92 --> 00:29:31.68] little bit easier than Finnish also yeah [00:29:29.40 --> 00:29:35.36] that's what I've heard as well yeah I've [00:29:31.68 --> 00:29:38.92] never learned Swedish yet though [00:29:35.36 --> 00:29:41.88] I yeah [00:29:38.92 --> 00:29:44.08] Okay so I want to ask like okay one [00:29:41.88 --> 00:29:46.40] maybe we can wrap up the discussion [00:29:44.08 --> 00:29:48.56] together and by like you can say some [00:29:46.40 --> 00:29:51.16] advices like what advice do you want to [00:29:48.56 --> 00:29:54.12] give to upcoming International students [00:29:51.16 --> 00:29:58.36] and also the existing students. [00:29:54.12 --> 00:30:01.52] My advice for students is uh choose [00:29:58.36 --> 00:30:06.88] your course carefully mhm and [00:30:01.52 --> 00:30:09.88] uh learn finish and uh be prepared [00:30:06.88 --> 00:30:13.48] for this winter [00:30:09.88 --> 00:30:16.52] weather take vitamin D take vitamin D [00:30:13.48 --> 00:30:19.16] exactly yeah um my advice would be at [00:30:16.52 --> 00:30:22.00] first it's going to be difficult to come [00:30:19.16 --> 00:30:25.04] in a new country and more importantly if [00:30:22.00 --> 00:30:27.36] you come alone you just switch to doing [00:30:25.04 --> 00:30:30.00] everything yourself so at first it's [00:30:27.36 --> 00:30:32.96] going to be hard don't be afraid to ask [00:30:30.00 --> 00:30:35.72] questions don't be afraid to go out of [00:30:32.96 --> 00:30:37.84] you your way to learn new things and [00:30:35.72 --> 00:30:40.76] also in the winter don't forget to take [00:30:37.84 --> 00:30:44.40] your vitamins because it's going to be [00:30:40.76 --> 00:30:46.36] bad if you don't true that's true yeah [00:30:44.40 --> 00:30:47.88] and even for me like I'm not from [00:30:46.36 --> 00:30:51.12] directly from high school but I always [00:30:47.88 --> 00:30:53.28] stay with my family together so now it's [00:30:51.12 --> 00:30:56.12] your own room and you know you have to [00:30:53.28 --> 00:30:58.52] find um how to like new friends and [00:30:56.12 --> 00:31:01.20] everything is new for us so it can be [00:30:58.52 --> 00:31:02.84] challenging at first but uh you have you [00:31:01.20 --> 00:31:06.44] there's always a community of students [00:31:02.84 --> 00:31:08.44] like us so you know whenever you come to [00:31:06.44 --> 00:31:10.12] another move even not just Finland in [00:31:08.44 --> 00:31:11.88] general in general when you move abroad [00:31:10.12 --> 00:31:14.40] I think it will be challenging at first [00:31:11.88 --> 00:31:16.48] but once you find your community and [00:31:14.40 --> 00:31:18.72] there like talk to the school talk to [00:31:16.48 --> 00:31:20.32] the support system that is you year and [00:31:18.72 --> 00:31:22.12] make sure you use the resources [00:31:20.32 --> 00:31:24.48] available and then you will get over [00:31:22.12 --> 00:31:26.36] them not over them I guess you will go [00:31:24.48 --> 00:31:28.20] through them eventually like of course [00:31:26.36 --> 00:31:31.56] there will still be hardships life is [00:31:28.20 --> 00:31:34.60] not very easy all the time and if you if [00:31:31.56 --> 00:31:37.72] you go through anything hard and don't [00:31:34.60 --> 00:31:39.88] keep it to yourself talk with someone [00:31:37.72 --> 00:31:43.24] there are facilities like mental health [00:31:39.88 --> 00:31:46.16] facilities to talk about it and yeah [00:31:43.24 --> 00:31:49.32] don't don't leave it to yourself still [00:31:46.16 --> 00:31:51.44] I'm struggling to find my community yeah [00:31:49.32 --> 00:31:54.40] of course because there are not so many [00:31:51.44 --> 00:31:58.20] Indians there are Indians in my class I [00:31:54.40 --> 00:32:02.80] can I can you can see you can see sure [00:31:58.20 --> 00:32:06.20] Indians pakistanis like pakistanis yeah [00:32:02.80 --> 00:32:09.96] uh I think uh in it there are like two [00:32:06.20 --> 00:32:11.88] or three Indians yes yeah but in terms [00:32:09.96 --> 00:32:14.00] of the community it doesn't always have [00:32:11.88 --> 00:32:15.76] to be the same country too you know like [00:32:14.00 --> 00:32:17.36] even if you hang out with like you know [00:32:15.76 --> 00:32:20.32] we can we can start hanging out more a [00:32:17.36 --> 00:32:22.24] little bit also in the future yeah like [00:32:20.32 --> 00:32:25.16] you can because even for me there's not [00:32:22.24 --> 00:32:27.24] a lot from Myanmar like I think but I'm [00:32:25.16 --> 00:32:29.72] going out with uh friends from different [00:32:27.24 --> 00:32:31.36] countries try to you know so maybe like [00:32:29.72 --> 00:32:33.96] you said you play volleyball with some [00:32:31.36 --> 00:32:36.28] friends so that's I think one good way [00:32:33.96 --> 00:32:41.16] maybe the start start from my [00:32:36.28 --> 00:32:44.52] perspective like uh Community uh from uh [00:32:41.16 --> 00:32:48.80] Community is a good thing to discuss [00:32:44.52 --> 00:32:52.52] your emotions and uh your inner feelings [00:32:48.80 --> 00:32:56.08] uh with uh your like uh Community people [00:32:52.52 --> 00:32:58.60] I think it is better to express uh you [00:32:56.08 --> 00:33:01.08] you can uh Express better with your [00:32:58.60 --> 00:33:03.04] community your own language yeah yeah I [00:33:01.08 --> 00:33:05.32] understand I understand yeah but [00:33:03.04 --> 00:33:08.36] sometimes it also is possible that you [00:33:05.32 --> 00:33:10.40] know you might not find the same uh [00:33:08.36 --> 00:33:12.92] person from your own country in [00:33:10.40 --> 00:33:15.60] especially when you come abroad so so of [00:33:12.92 --> 00:33:17.60] course it may be challenging but I think [00:33:15.60 --> 00:33:19.44] it's possible of course for me also like [00:33:17.60 --> 00:33:23.72] you know uh I keep in touch with my [00:33:19.44 --> 00:33:26.08] family uh in weekly but of I I because [00:33:23.72 --> 00:33:28.40] there's not a lot from Myanmar here so I [00:33:26.08 --> 00:33:29.84] try to talk with a friend who are like [00:33:28.40 --> 00:33:32.16] from different countries and now we're [00:33:29.84 --> 00:33:34.20] getting close and we just say even in [00:33:32.16 --> 00:33:36.96] broken English or not correct grammar [00:33:34.20 --> 00:33:39.16] it's fine it's fine like no no worries [00:33:36.96 --> 00:33:41.16] about the language cuz that that's what [00:33:39.16 --> 00:33:44.12] matters it's just about you know getting [00:33:41.16 --> 00:33:46.20] close to each other so um I also there's [00:33:44.12 --> 00:33:49.12] there is no one like from my country in [00:33:46.20 --> 00:33:52.04] my class but I don't really mind it I [00:33:49.12 --> 00:33:54.16] have friends from everywhere and I think [00:33:52.04 --> 00:33:57.00] having friends from different countries [00:33:54.16 --> 00:33:59.72] opened also my eyes on a lot of things [00:33:57.00 --> 00:34:01.68] true because when you grow up in one [00:33:59.72 --> 00:34:04.56] country you have a certain view of [00:34:01.68 --> 00:34:06.80] things but then when you talk with other [00:34:04.56 --> 00:34:08.84] people who come from other sides of the [00:34:06.80 --> 00:34:11.08] world and you hear their sides like how [00:34:08.84 --> 00:34:13.76] their life is that's true and I can [00:34:11.08 --> 00:34:16.44] always talk to talk about my worries [00:34:13.76 --> 00:34:20.32] even if it's in in English but then I [00:34:16.44 --> 00:34:23.16] call my my my mom every day to talk [00:34:20.32 --> 00:34:25.40] about it true true yeah yeah I think of [00:34:23.16 --> 00:34:27.28] course uh like you said it really opens [00:34:25.40 --> 00:34:29.52] up our mind and since I think we have to [00:34:27.28 --> 00:34:31.84] make sure we use the benefit that we are [00:34:29.52 --> 00:34:34.12] here in Finland as an international [00:34:31.84 --> 00:34:37.00] student so make sure we adapt with the [00:34:34.12 --> 00:34:39.24] International Community also to uh be [00:34:37.00 --> 00:34:41.68] more like learn new things about each [00:34:39.24 --> 00:34:44.44] other cuz learning never ends learning [00:34:41.68 --> 00:34:46.16] never ends so yeah but I think that has [00:34:44.44 --> 00:34:48.68] this has been a really great discussion [00:34:46.16 --> 00:34:50.92] with both of you and I think we [00:34:48.68 --> 00:34:53.64] reflected a little bit about ourselves [00:34:50.92 --> 00:34:57.24] during the discussion as well [00:34:53.64 --> 00:34:59.64] so yes but thank you so much for today [00:34:57.24 --> 00:35:02.16] thank you much and good luck for the [00:34:59.64 --> 00:35:05.16] future and I hope we'll see in compass [00:35:02.16 --> 00:35:07.52] yeah thank you see uh from this [00:35:05.16 --> 00:35:11.72] podcast I will attract most of the [00:35:07.52 --> 00:35:13.04] Indians here yeah yes come to Navi and [00:35:11.72 --> 00:35:16.48] make [00:35:13.04 --> 00:35:21.80] friends thank you thank you bye byee [00:35:16.48 --> 00:35:21.80] byee bye bye bye bye bye [00:35:22.16 --> 00:35:28.36] bye thank you everyone for tuning in to [00:35:25.12 --> 00:35:31.64] this episode of f academic Adventure
